Kainchi Dham (also known as Neem Karoli Baba Ashram or Shri Kainchi Hanuman Mandir) is one of the most spiritually powerful destinations in Uttarakhand. The ashram was founded in 1964 by Neem Karoli Baba (also spelt Neeb Karori Baba; lovingly called Maharaj-ji), a revered saint and devotee of Lord Hanuman.

The name "Kainchi" comes from the two hairpin bends (locally called kainchi, meaning scissors) on the Nainital–Almora road where the ashram is situated — two hills cut and cross each other in a scissor-like shape. The ashram houses a beautiful temple with idols of Hanuman, Lakshman and Neem Karoli Baba, at an altitude of about 1,400 metres.

What makes Kainchi Dham truly unique is its non-commercial, deeply grounded atmosphere. Unlike many pilgrimage centres, there is no pressure to perform rituals and no ticketed entry. Devotees sit silently, meditate, chant, or simply observe the peaceful flow of ashram life.
