Chopta Tungnath Trek
The most famous pilgrimage and tourist site in this region is the Tungnath Temple, located 3.5 km from Chopta. Musk deer Breeding and Conservation Center was established in Chamoli in the year 1981-82 with the help of Kanchula Khark Mandal, UNESCO. Apart from this, some areas of Didihat, Dharchula and Munsiyari were declared as Askot Kasturi Mrig Vihar. The purpose of setting up these centers is to increase the number of this rare creature.

Like the Kedarnath temple, the doors of this temple are also closed for six months during the winter season. Madhyamaheshwar is also worshiped in the Omkareshwar temple of Ukhimath along with the idols of the remaining three Kedar temples during the winter season for six months.
