About Tehri Dam

The Tehri Dam Located in Uttarakhand is the tallest dam in India and the eighth tallest in the world. Tehri Dambuilt between the Himalayan mountains at the confluence of two rivers Bhagirathi and Bhilangana. Tehri Dam is 261 meters high, 575 meters long, and holds 2.6 cubic kilometers of water. Its total area is 52 square kilometers. The first phase of the Tehri Dam was completed in 2006, and the two other phases are still ongoing. Tehri Dam is the largest hydroelectric project in Uttarakhand It generates 1,000 MW of electricity.

By Rail: Deboard at Rishikesh railway station to reach New Tehri as it is situated some 73 km away from your destination. Taxis and buses from the railway station are easily available.

By Road: As New Tehri is well connected via roads, it’s easy to reach here via buses and taxis from places in Uttarakhand like Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Devprayag, Srinagar, Uttarkashi and more.
