World Heritage Valley of Flowers has been opened today (Thursday) for tourists. Heavy snow patches are spread at two places on the pedestrian path of the valley. Tourists will have to pass through these snow patches to reach between the snow-capped peaks. The Valley of Flowers, spread over an area of 87.50 square kilometers, is opened for tourists from 1st June every year and closed on 31st October.

During this period, tourists from different parts of the country and abroad come here to witness the natural beauty of the valley and the sight of about 600 species of flowers. Here, primarily, flowers like Brahma Kamal, Fen Kamal, Blue Poppy, Marisias, Marygold, Golden Rod, Jasmine, Rovan, Helmet Plower, and Golden Lily bloom.

Valley of Flowers National Park Trek Itinerary

  • Day 1: Govindghat to Ghangria via Poolna :  You need to take the route via poolna  to its almost 4 km drive to Poolna. then 5-6 hours trek which is almost 9 km its Easy-moderate trek . and the trail is  well- defined .
  • Day 2: Ghangria to Valley of Flowers and back :  6-7 hours Trek , its almost 3-4 km in both ways going and coming back its  easy. flat walk in the valley
  • Day 3: Ghangria to Govindghat via Poolna :  Take almost 4 hours to coming back  its arround 9 km from there 4 km drive to Govindghat.

How to Reach Valley of Flowers National Park

By Air:   The nearest airport to the Valley of Flowers is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. The distance from Dehradun to Valley of Flowers is approximately 284 km .  you can book a bus or a taxi to reach the Valley of Flowers.

By Train:   The nearest railway station to the Valley of Flowers is Rishikesh, which is at a distance of about 272 kms from the Valley of Flowers. There are regular buses and taxis from Rishikesh to the Valley of Flowers.

By Road:  If you have chosen the road to go to the Valley of Flowers, then let us tell you that the Valley of Flowers is well connected to the surrounding cities Haridwar, Rishikesh through the road. Therefore, you will easily reach the Valley of Flowers via bus as well. The nearest bus stand to the Valley of Flowers is Govindghat , you need to take NH 58 connected through haridwar, rishikesh to govindghat .

Best Time to Visit Valley of Flowers National Park

The Valley of Flowers is only open from the beginning of June until the beginning of October, as it’s covered in snow the rest of the year. The best time to visit is from mid July to mid August, when the flowers are in full bloom after the first monsoon rain. If visit before July, you’ll find hardly any flowers at all.
