As the winter season is gripping the whole of north India, Gangotri and Yamunotri dhams in the Devbhumi – Uttarakhand receive fresh spells of snow. The Char Dham yatra is still going and will be wound up this month at different dates. The upper reaches of Uttarakhand have seen snowfall since the last few weeks. 

Snowfall in Uttarakhand Today Make Char Dham yatra more difficult

Snowfall has further complicated the Char Dham yatra. Yamunotri and Gangotri shrines have been covered with fresh snowfall. According to some reports, snow is still falling in the upper reaches of Gangotri-Yamunotri dham. The average temperature has consistently plunged making it colder and colder. A few weeks ago, the state government even suspended the yatra temporarily due to inclement weather.

Due to the recent snowfall in Yamunotri and Gangotri shrines, the roads are all covered with a thick layer of snow. Also, the helipads where pilgrims are transported via air routes have been covered in the milky-white snow. The videos made by pilgrims show the entire premises of the Yamunotri Dham covered in the white blanket of snow.  

Weather forecast is more Snowfall in Uttarakhand expected

In coming week the weather predicted in Yamunotri show clear skies with maximum temperature up to 6 degrees celsius and minimum will drop up to -6 degree. Gangotri will also experience clear skies in coming weeks with maximum average temperature up to 8 degrees and minimum minus 3 degrees.
