Hemkund Sahib Opening Date 2023 is announced, Hemkund Sahib Yatra will be started from May 20 this year by Gurdwara Trust with the help of State Government. And the Yatra of Hemkund Sahib will end at the end of October.

About Hemkund Sahib

Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib is located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand in the heart of the Himalaya Mountains. This holy pilgrimage site is visited by thousands of devotees every year. The literal meaning of Hemkund Sahib is “Lake of Snow” and it is the highest Gurudwara in the world with a height of 4633 meters above sea level. Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board for visiting holy shrine of Hemkund Sahib registration is mandatory . Regisration can be done through mobile application by downloading the Tourist Care Uttarakhand App and also through WhatsApp Facility. Pilgrim just need to Type Yatra to initiate the registration process on Mobile no. 91 8394833833.

Where is Hemkund Sahib Gurdwara located?

Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara is located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state, India, which is situated at an altitude of about 4632 meters (15197 ft) above sea level.

How to Reach Hemkund Sahib Gurdwara ?

The journey to Hemkund Sahib starts from Govindghat which is situated on the banks of Akhalnanda river at an altitude of 1828 meters above sea level. There are good roads till Govindghat and even vehicles go comfortably but there is a climb of 13 kms from Govindghat to Ghangaria on top of it, which is a very steep climb. The journey of 6 km ahead of this is full of more difficulties.

Govindghat is reached by crossing the Alakhnanda river through a swinging bridge. After this, the crooked path becomes straight, which goes through the valley going down,
which also has fields and many trees and plants. After 3 km, Lakshman Ganga meets which later joins Alakhnanda. Next comes a small village, Pulna. After this, the climb
becomes even more exciting because on the way you start seeing rocky mountains and snow-capped mountain peaks.

The 7 km journey between Pulna to Bhayandar village is full of natural beauty. You will also find many waterfalls in it. After going 2 km further one comes to Ghangaria Base Camp,
from where the path to Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib emerges. Although the distance from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib is only 6 kilometers, but from here the climb of the mountain
becomes even more difficult and it takes maximum time to cross it.

By AirJolly Grant Airport of Dehradun is the nearest airport. Jolly Grant distance from Govindghat is 292 kms. From Airport you can reach Govindghat by taxi or bus. from govindghat there is a 19 kms to Hemkund Sahib.

By Rail – The nearest railway station to Hemkund Sahib is Rishikesh, which is 273 km away from Govindghat. From Rishikesh you can reach Govindghat via taxi or bus via Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Joshimath.
