Gaj Utsav 2023

Gaj Utsav 2023 at Kaziranga Asaam is 2 Days festival staring from today 7th April and will continue until 8th April tommorrow. Government of India is going to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Project Elephant with Gaj Utsav 2023. The two-day event aims to promote elephant conservation, protect their habitats and corridors, and prevent human-elephant conflict.

Gaj Utsav 2023 Location

Gaj Utsav 2023 will be inaugurated by President Draupadi Murmu on April 7 at Kaziranga National Park in Assam. The event is significant as Kaziranga is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the highest density of tigers in the world.

Gaj Utsav 2023 Importance

Gaj Utsav 2023 is a centrally sponsored scheme launched in 1991–92 to protect elephants and their habitats in India. With an estimated population of 30,000–40,000 elephants, India is home to more than 60 percent of the global wild elephant population. Elephants are considered a national heritage animal protected under Schedule I of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.

President Droupadi Murmu to inaugurate Gaj Utsav at Kaziranga

President Droupadi Murmu who is on a three-day visit to Assam will reach Guwahati this afternoon from the Kaziranga National Park in Golaghat district to take part in several programmes including attending the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Gauhati High Court.

AIR correspondent reports, on arrival from Kaziranga National Park in Guwahati, the President will flag off the Mount Kanchenjunga Expedition by handing over Ice-Axe Baton with the National Flag at the Koinadhara State Guest House. After that, President Murmu will attend the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Gauhati High Court as the Chief Guest in the evening and will also launch the mobile App “Bhoroxa” made for the safety of women and the elderly.
