About Badrinath Dham

Badrinath Dham is a famous Hindu temple located in the Chamoli district of the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is one of the four sacred shrines in Hinduism collectively known as the “Chota Char Dham” (the other three being Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Kedarnath).

The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is situated at an elevation of 3,133 meters (10,279 feet) above sea level on the banks of the Alaknanda River. It is believed to be one of the 108 Divya Desams or holy abodes of Lord Vishnu.

According to Hindu mythology, Badrinath is the place where Lord Vishnu meditated for thousands of years in order to attain enlightenment. The temple itself is believed to have been built by Adi Shankaracharya, a famous 8th-century philosopher and theologian.

Badrinath is open to devotees from April to November, and during this time, thousands of pilgrims visit the temple to offer their prayers and seek blessings. The temple’s architecture is a blend of the traditional Garhwal style and modern designs, making it a must-visit place for both religious and architectural enthusiasts.
