About Neem Karoli Baba

Neem Karoli Baba’s real name was Lakshmi Narayan Sharma. He was born around 1900 in the village of Akbarpur, Uttar Pradesh. He attained spiritual enlightenment at the age of 17. His father’s name was Durga Prasad Sharma. Baba got married at the age of 11. In 1958, he left his home and started wandering as a sadhu (holy man) throughout North India. During that time, he was known by various names, including Lakshman Das, the Baba with the pitcher, and the Baba with three corners. When he did his penance in Morbi, Vavania, Gujarat, people started calling him Talaiya Baba.

Kainchi Dham is located near Nainital in Uttarakhand. The charismatic Baba Neem Karoli established this ashram in 1964. Baba Neem Karoli first came to Kainchi Dham near Nainital, Uttarakhand in 1961, and he discussed the idea of establishing an ashram with his old friend, Puran Anand. Baba Neem Karoli officially established this ashram in 1964. His final resting place, the samadhi sthal, is located near Pantnagar, close to Nainital.

Baba Neem Karoli was a miraculous saint. His devotees consider him an incarnation of Lord Hanuman. He was a simple and straightforward person. There are many miraculous stories associated with him. It is believed that because of his miracles and the grace of Lord Hanuman, this place is renowned. It is believed that anyone who comes here with a wish does not return empty-handed.

Kainchi Dham gained popularity due to the devotees of Baba Neem Karoli, including Steve Jobs (founder of Apple), Mark Zuckerberg (founder of Facebook), and Hollywood actress Julia Roberts. It is said that their lives transformed after visiting this place. Ram Dass (Richard Alpert) wrote a book called “Miracle of Love” about Baba Neem Karoli’s miracles, including an incident called the “Bulletproof Blanket.” Baba always wore a blanket and even today, when people visit his temple, they offer blankets. Presently, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have also visited Neem Karoli Baba’s ashram.

It is situated at a distance of approximately 17 kilometers from Nainital. and 8 Km from Bhowali The temple is nestled amidst the scenic beauty of the Kumaon Hills, surrounded by lush greenery and serene surroundings.
Roads are crowded however the public transport like buses and jeep available but many devotees reach dham by walk from Bhowali which is approx 8 KM away from Bhaowali.
