situated in Gujarat. The Statue of Unity is dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first Home Miniter
of independent India. The Statue is called the Statue of Unity because Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was the person who unified all the princely states and unified them under the government of India.

The Statue of Unity is constructed by Larsen and Toubro with a total construction cost of INR 27 billion.
The statue has been designed by sculptor Ram V. Sutar. The construction work of the Statue of Unity
began in 2013 and got completed in 2018. On October 31, 2018, on the occasion of the 143rd birth
anniversary of Sardar Patel, the Statue of Unity was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
