According to the Hindu calendar Janmashtami 2022 Date is 18th August. The devotees can observe fasting till Rohini Nakshatra and Ashtami Tithi. People can indulge into the puja at 12.04am till 12.48am on 19th August. Dahi Handi festival will be held on 19th August.

World’s largest Krishna devotee group, ISKCON has announced that Janmashtami 2022 Date according to them will be held from 19th to 20th August for which the timings will remain the same. Krishna Janmashtami will be held for two consecutive days, Smarta Sampradaya and Vaishnav Sampradaya, respectively. ISKCON is based upon Vaishnav traditions, hence, the different dates to celebrate the auspicious festival.

The auspicious festival of Janmashtami is what everyone is waiting for when devotees of Lord Krishna will be celebrating the birth of their Lord. According to the Drik Panchang, this year Janmashtami 2022 Date will fall on 18th August. Celebrating the Hindu God Krishna’s birthday, this auspicious day is also celebrated as a country-wide holiday.

Janmashtami or Gokulashtami is a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of the eight avatar of Hindu God Vishnu. On this day, people usually keep a fast and observe divulgence into devotional songs for the whole day along with popular Dahi Handi ritual by Gopalas. Devotees of Lord Krishna decorate the God’s altar with a lot of flowers, garlands and sweets to mark the birth of the God. Temples are usually open till late at night as the birth of Krishna is believed to have happened at midnight and people dress up their little kids as Krishna and celebrate the auspicious festival.

Shri Krishna Janmashtami is the celebration of the birth of Lord Krishna . according to the Hindu scriptures. Lord Krishna was born in Mathura’s . Devki and Vasudev was a father and mother of Lord Krishna.

Kans wanted to kill all of Devki’s children due to the prophecy that her eight child will be his end. Ultimately, Krishna was born and swapped off in Vridavan to Nand Baba and Yashoda by Vasudev. Hence, the significance of Krishna’s birth is greater in every essence by depicting the win of good over evil.

The devotees decorate their homes with flowers, candles and deepaks. Elaborate festivites take place in the temples of Mathura and Vridavan especially. People take out Jhankis where they depict the life story of Krishna and his rasleela with Radha and other Gopiyan. During the pooja timings, devotees bathe Bal Gopala idols with water and milk and give him jhulas to mark the birth of God.

The devotees also change the clothes on Krishna’s idol and get him new and fresh clothes. Some devotees don’t even leave Lord Krishna’s idol even for a minute, if they are going outside, they will take their idols along with them due to their devotion. In many parts of the country, Dahi Handi is observed where boys and girls dressup and make a human pyramid to break off matkis filled with churned butter or buttermilk which is considered to be the favorite feast of Lord Krishna.
